How to Fix Fortnite
Login Issues

If you can't log into Fortnite or keep getting kicked back to the login screen, follow these steps. First check whether Epic Games's servers are down — server outages are the most common cause of login failures.

Step-by-Step Fix

1
Check Epic Games authentication status
Visit status.epicgames.com and look for "Authentication" in the service list. If it's degraded or down, all logins are broken server-side and you'll need to wait for Epic to fix it.
2
Sign out and back into the Epic Launcher
Click your account name in the top-right of the Epic Games Launcher → Sign Out. Wait 30 seconds, then sign back in. This refreshes your auth token.
3
Clear the Epic Launcher cache
Close the launcher fully (check system tray). Then navigate to %localappdata%\EpicGamesLauncher\Saved\ and delete the webcache folder. Relaunch and try logging in again.
4
Test your Epic account via browser
Go to epicgames.com in your browser and try logging in. If you can't log in there either, the problem is with your Epic account itself — use the password reset link or contact Epic support.
5
Disable two-factor authentication temporarily
If you're stuck in a 2FA login loop, go to epicgames.com → Account Settings → Password & Security and temporarily disable 2FA. Re-enable it after successfully logging in.
6
Reinstall the Epic Games Launcher
As a last resort, uninstall via Windows Settings → Apps → Epic Games Launcher. Download a fresh installer from epicgames.com and reinstall. Your Fortnite install and account data are preserved.
Is it server-side?
Check real-time player reports — if reports are spiking, it's on Epic Games's end, not yours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't I log into Fortnite?

Most login failures are caused by Epic's authentication servers being down, a stale session token in the launcher, or a corrupted launcher cache. Check status.epicgames.com, sign out and back in, and clear the webcache folder.

Fortnite keeps saying my credentials are wrong but I know they're correct?

This usually means your launcher session is corrupted rather than the password actually being wrong. Clear the Epic Launcher cache at %localappdata%\EpicGamesLauncher\Saved\webcache, sign out, and sign back in.

My Fortnite account was hacked — what do I do?

Go immediately to epicgames.com → Account → Password & Security. Change your password, enable two-factor authentication, and click "Sign Out of All Devices". Contact Epic support if you've been locked out entirely.
